DUTIES AND OTHER VICES. HOW TO SURVIVE THE POLITICS THAT TAKES CARE OF US (AND THE PLANET)
A meeting/manifesto, organized by Brazzale, to talk not only about duties, but all the initiatives that politics adopt to “take care” of citizens, business, agriculture, industry, art, the environment and what we eat as well.
Five guests participated to the debate: the political scientist Mr. Alberto Mingardi for the economy, the president of Brazzale Spa Mr. Roberto Brazzale for business matters; the writer and journalist Mr. Camillo Langone for the arts; the professor of Food Science and Technology at Milan University Mr. Tateo for Food Science and the Associate Professor of Agronomy at the University of Brescia and Mr. Luigi Mariani for Agriculture and the Environment.
Following the speeches, Prof. Fernando Tateo and Prof. Monica Bononi, both editors, will then present the first copy of the proceedings of the 1st BSC Studies Conference dedicated to “The New Era of Milk and Dairy Products”, promoted by “Brazzale SpA” and organized by the Brazzale Science Center (BSC), which was held in Thiene on the 20th and 21st of June 2024.
HONEY UNDER THE LENS: PERCEPTIONS, TRUTHS AND NEWS MARKET CHALLENGES
Honey stands at the center of a conflicting narrative: a natural and traditional product on one hand, a target of fraud and adulteration on the other. In a market flooded with products of questionable origin and confused consumers, honey becomes a symbol of a broader challenge: how can we recognize the true value behind a jar?
The event aims to shed light on a scenario often distorted by investigations, prejudices, and real risks of fraud, while also exploring the future of honey, emerging consumption trends, and evolving socio-demographic dynamics.
Following an introduction on the vision and commitment of Conapi-Mielizia, the largest honey supply chain in Italy, the discussion will dive into the core of the issue with a keynote by Lucia Piana, a leading expert in honey sensory analysis, melissopalynology, and pollen analysis. She will provide an overview of product quality and the main types of fraud and adulteration.
This will be followed by a discussion with some of the main players in the Italian large-scale retail sector (GDO), who will share their experiences and strategies to enhance the honey offering and meet new consumer demands.
An opportunity for open dialogue among producers, experts, and retailers to jointly shape the future of this precious food.
